A Rambling February Post
Yep it would be fair to say I have taken a bit of an unintentional break from blogging. Well more of an unintentional break from coding at home which usually leads me to blog.
Christmas was a big part of it with that time being follow by the feeling of being incredibly burnt out. My final living grandparent also died which is not a fun thing.
It feels like all of January and a fair bit of February have been a bit unproductive. Usually I find the start of a new year to be a fairly productive time in terms of home projects. My other half thinks I have had some kind of virus that has been slowing me down.
Anyway enough negativity I try to not be one of 'those' people :)
Well this is definitely a rambling post so I think I will indulge myself and just go with the flow and see where the writing takes me.
I quit coffee a week or so ago after realising I was definitely drinking way too much. The headaches were awesome to say the least. I find I tend to sleep a lot when I am going through the withdrawal period and managed about 10 hours a night where I normally on do 6-8hrs depending on my exercising levels.
After getting through those few days I started to feel better. I can only imagine what withdrawal from a harder drug would be like and certainly not something I would want to experience.
Geek wise I did spend a little bit of time with perl 6. I am not someone who has ever done any perl in the past but perl 6 seems like a language I would like. It is early days and the ecosystem is not really big enough for me to commit to learning it but I wrote a bit of code and could appreciate the decisions they have made. I also appreciated that the community around it seemed to have a pretty relaxed anything goes as long as you are not annoying vibe going on.
On another tangent I have been really enjoying the Welcome to Nightvale podcasts, running to work while listening to a fictional radio show is a great way to keep keep my brain occupied. I put in a reasonable number of hours running so finding quality podcasts really makes me happy.
I think that is enough of my rambling for now.
